Tinubu: Nollywood shouldn’t endorse any candidate, says Yemi Solade
Movie producer and actor, Yemi Solade, has said that Nollywood should not support any political candidate ahead of the 2023 general elections.
He spoke Friday on TVC’s breakfast show, ‘Your View’ and noted that Nollywood should separate itself from politics.
Some Nollywood actors including Jide Kosoko, Adebayo Salami, Taiwo Hassan, Faithia Williams, Yinka Quadri, and Lanre Hassan endorsed All Progressives Congress standard-bearer, Bola Tinubu.
Speaking on Friday, Solade said, “I don’t think Nollywood should endorse any candidate. I don’t think it is the prerogative of Nollywood.”
The movie expert said the Nollywood actors who canvassed votes for Tinubu did so of their own volition and not under the professional body of Nollywood.
He said, “I think those faces that we saw endorsing Bola Tinubu did that at their own self-volition. They will not represent Nollywood but they are faces you see in movies in Nollywood.
“They didn’t even go under the aegis of a professional body, they went all on their own, because I saw the video. I didn’t even see it to the end because I was not interested.”
