The Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra has warned the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) to ensure that no harm is done to Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho, who was arrested in Benin Republic some days ago.

WuzupNigeria reported that Igboho was arrested alongside his German wife, Ropo, in the West African country’s airport while trying to board a plane to Germany.

The PUNCH, quoting a statement by the pro-Biafra group on Wednesday, reports that the group condemned the arrest of Igboho, noting that it is absurd that the government could not arrest leaders of herdsmen, bandits, and Boko Haram insurgents terrorising the country, especially in Northern Nigeria.

The statement signed by MASSOB’s National Director of Information, Edeson Samuel, also warned that no harm should befall the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, who is in the custody of the Department of State Services.

WuzupNigeria reported that Kanu who holds a dual citizenship status with Nigeria and the UK was recently rearrested and extradited to the country via an unverified means having jumped bail in 2017 and fled to the United Kingdom, facing terrorism-related charges.

Kanu is currently being held by the DSS after appearing before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, and is facing trial for a treasonable felony.

Speaking further, Samuel said the arrest and clamping on independent nation’s agitators without addressing the cause of agitations was a ploy of Buhari’s regime to “intimidate the Southern part of this political entity called Nigeria.”

The statement partly read: “MASSOB has already warned Mohammadu Buhari led All Progressives Congress that nothing should happen to Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho. Nigerian security has failed to arrest leaders of herdsmen, bandits, and Boko Haram in the north but using all their strength against freedom agitators in the south.

“Kidnapping is going on every day in Kaduna, Zamfara and other states in the north, but these Fulani foot soldiers could not do anything because they are working together.

“It is very clear now to the entire world that Federal Government of Nigerian led by General Mohammadu Buhari is pampering terrorist group known as Fulani herdsmen, but sent his security agents against non-violent self-determination group because of the hatred he has against the South and Middle Belt regions.

“MASSOB still maintain our stand that no harm should happen to befall Sunday Igboho, Nnamdi Kanu and other freedom agitators held in DSS and Police custody,” it reads.

MASSOB, however, noted that the arrest of Igboho and Kanu would not stop the agitation for the Biafra and Oduduwa campaign saying “millions of Kanus and Igbohos are still out there.”
