After last Monday’s bloody protest, the Indigenous People of Biafra, has suspended its Monday sit-at-home order.
DailyPost reports that the directive was announced by IPOB’s Head, Directorate of States, Chika Edoziem.
Recall that the secessionist group had announced the sit-at-home order in protest against the arrest and detention of its embattled leader, Nnamdi Kanu, as well as to pressure the Federal Government to release him.
WuzupNigeria reported that the sit-at-home took an unprecedented turn when some armed men suspected to be members of Eastern Security Network of IPOB moved to enforce the protest which was marred by the loss of lives and destruction of properties.
Speaking on radio programme on Friday, Edoziem said: “I wish to announce this very evening, that as directed by the highest command of this noble movement, our Monday Ghost Town or sit-at-home in Biafra land, stands suspended for now.
”The weekly sit-at-home stands suspended, which means in the coming Monday, there will be no Ghost Town in Biafraland.
“Our sit-at-home will be on each court date when our leader, Onye Ndu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will be appearing in court.”
