Former Education Minister, Oby Ezekwesili, has condemned the fresh abduction of pupils and teachers in Kaduna State.

WuzupNigeria reported that suspected bandits stormed Universal Basic Education Primary School at Rama in Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of the state on Monday, abducting an unknown number of persons.

Reacting to the latest abduction on her verified Twitter account on Monday, Ezekwesili opined that the country is on a brink of collapse.

She tweeted:
“I just read that another set of school children…. this time primary school children were abducted today in Kaduna. The country is at the brink of a collapse while scoundrels of patriotism pretend that the status quo is sustainable. This country needs a National Conversation.

“How can any reasonable person not see that the gross erosion of the capacity of the Nigerian-State to secure her school children is a symptom of a deeper crisis of legitimacy? When things degenerate this much, ignoring a National Conversation portends the gravest danger.”

The recent abduction comes after the military foiled an attempted abduction of 180 students and staff of the Turkish International Secondary School located in Rigachikun, Kaduna State on Friday.

In the same vein, WuzupNigeria reported that over 30 students were kidnapped when the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization was attacked by bandits at Afaka in Igabi Local Government Area of the state on Thursday.
