Soldiers and Policemen have foiled a fresh attempt by bandits to abduct pupils at Prelude Comprehensive College, Kujama in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Friday.

The security operatives responded swiftly to credible intelligence and thwarted the efforts of the approaching bandits.

The State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, made this known in a statement on Friday.

Aruwan said some bandits barricaded the Kaduna – Kachia Road where they abducted two travellers whose names were given as Yusuf Alhassan and Nura Abdullahi after they were forced to thwart their plan to abduct the pupils. He added that they were, however, rescued.

“The abducted duo was later rescued after troops and police heard gunshots and gave the bandits a hot chase,” he said

He also said three travellers were shot by the bandits and identified the shot travellers as  Isa Ahmadu, Saidu Sani, and Abubakar Ibrahim, adding that “the injured persons were taken to St. Gerald Catholic Hospital for medical attention.”

The Commissioner said troops also foiled an attack along the Zaria-Kano Road in Makarfi Local Government Area.

Aruwan said, “the personnel mobilized to the area following distress calls of bandits’ activity. One bandit dressed in military camouflage was neutralized, and one pump action was recovered.”
