Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has promised to increase investment in rural infrastructure, healthcare and education. He made this promise if residents elect him for another term. The Adeleke Ifetedo campaign has emphasised these priorities during meetings with locals.
According to Vanguard, Adeleke made the promise during his campaign tour of Ife South Local Government Area, which was an important stop for the Adeleke Ifetedo campaign. There, traditional rulers, community leaders and residents received him.
The governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said the campaign train arrived at Awolowo Town to a reception led by the Olu of Awolowo, Oba Yekinni Olayemi Olasoji Omisore. In addition, the reception was led by the Olubosin of Ifetedo, Oba Akinola Oyetade Akinrera.
About 90 traditional rulers and 120 Baales reportedly attended the event and expressed support for Adeleke’s re-election bid. Clearly, the Adeleke Ifetedo campaign gained significant traditional support at this gathering.
Representatives of the Christian, Muslim and traditional faiths also offered prayers for the governor at the palace of the Olu of Awolowo.
Adeleke said his administration had delivered infrastructure and development projects across every local government area in the state.
“Wherever we go in Osun, our good work speaks for us. We have touched every local government with infrastructure and other development projects. We will do even more if re-elected,” he said.
The governor commissioned a three-kilometre road in Ifetedo during the campaign visit. Notably, this project featured strongly in the Adeleke Ifetedo campaign message.
He also promised to address the community’s long-standing electricity challenges. He explained that the Ministry of Energy had completed the necessary groundwork.
“Once we are re-elected, we will break the jinx of inadequate power supply in this town. Our Ministry of Energy has already completed the necessary groundwork,” Adeleke said.
The governor also pledged to improve rural roads, schools and healthcare facilities across the state.
While unveiling medical equipment donated by senior lawyer Yusuf Ali to a health facility in Ifetedo, Adeleke said his administration would recruit additional medical workers. This recruitment would happen during a second term.
He added that the government would also employ more workers in the education sector. This will strengthen teaching and learning in public schools.
Adeleke maintained that his administration’s performance in infrastructure and social development justified its request for another term.
The governor attended the campaign with Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, Campaign Director-General Senator Lere Oyewumi and Deputy Director-General Kolapo Alimi.
Others included Accord Party State Chairman Victor Akande, Chairman of the Campaign Publicity Committee Bamidele Salam and other party leaders. Overall, the Adeleke Ifetedo campaign has been marked by large turnouts and enthusiastic support.
