News of 250 dead B’Haram fighters is fake – NAF

The Nigerian Air Force has said that Nigerians should disregard a fake news circulating that the air force killed over 250 Boko Haram fighters In Maiduguri, Borno State.

The NAF said on Sunday that the “false sensational news item, with its gory doctored visuals, is totally fake and did not originate” from its quarters.

The air force added that authentic information on the activities of the NAF is usually released officially by the Director of Public Relations and Information and carried on the NAF website as well as NAF official social media handles.

The Director, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, in a release on Sunday, said the NAF had commenced action that would lead to the prosecution of the originator of the aforementioned false report.

He said, “The attention of NAF has been drawn to a supposed news, Nigerian Air Force kills over 250 Boko Haram fighters In Maiduguri. The news item was said to have been released on February 13, by one Commodore Aminu Musawa.

“The NAF wishes to categorically state that the false sensational news item, with its gory doctored visuals, is totally fake and did not originate from the NAF.

“Any reports emanating from other sources without verification from the NAF should be completely discountenanced. The NAF has commenced action that would lead to the prosecution of the originator of the aforementioned false report for disseminating fake news.”
