The Nigeria Democratic Congress has released the official pricing structure for nomination forms ahead of the 2027 general elections, pegging the presidential ticket at a total of N60 million.

Under the arrangement, governorship hopefuls will be required to pay N30 million, while aspirants for the Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly will also pay prescribed fees across different categories.

The timetable was made public in a joint statement signed by the party’s National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, and National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu.

According to the schedule, the sale of Expression of Interest forms for all elective positions will begin on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, and close on Monday, May 18, 2026. Screening and interviews for aspirants are expected to hold between May 19 and May 21, after which successful candidates will proceed to purchase nomination forms.

Nomination form sales are slated for May 21 to May 23, while submission of completed forms will end on May 25. The party also set May 25 and May 26 aside for appeals arising from the screening exercise. Party primaries for various offices are scheduled for May 27 and May 28, with the presidential primary fixed for May 29, 2026, in Abuja.

The NDC explained that governorship primaries would be conducted at the local government level, while aspirants for the State House of Assembly would be screened within their respective states. In contrast, screening for National Assembly and presidential aspirants will take place at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

All aspirants, the party noted, must sign undertakings aligned with its code of conduct and electoral guidelines as part of the process.

Reaffirming its stance on internal democracy, the party assured members of a credible and open process, stating its commitment to what it described as “a transparent, inclusive and democratic process” throughout the primaries.

In addition, the statement read: “The party remains committed to a transparent and democratic process that guarantees fairness, inclusiveness and internal democracy in the conduct of its primaries.”

To further strengthen credibility, the party disclosed plans to adopt an “open secret ballot” system during its primaries.

Breaking down the costs, presidential aspirants will pay N20 million for the Expression of Interest form and N40 million for the nomination form. Governorship candidates are required to pay N10 million and N20 million respectively.

Senatorial aspirants will pay N3 million for Expression of Interest and N5 million for nomination forms, while House of Representatives hopefuls will pay N2 million and N4 million respectively.

For State House of Assembly seats, the fees are set at N1 million for Expression of Interest and N1.5 million for nomination forms.

The party maintained that its fees remain comparatively lower than those charged by other major political parties in the country.

It further introduced concessions aimed at inclusivity, announcing that female aspirants will pay 50 per cent of the stated fees, while persons living with disabilities will enjoy a 75 per cent waiver across all categories.

The NDC concluded by reaffirming its commitment to presenting credible and competitive candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
