NBBF dedicates D’Tigers victories against US, Argentina to late Sound Sultan
The Nigerian Basketball Federation on Tuesday dedicated D’Tigers recent victories against the United States and Argentina in honour of the late Olanrewaju Ganiu Fasasi popularly known as Sound Sultan.
The NBBF made the statement via its official Twitter handle.
WuzupNigeria reported that the music icon died on Sunday aged 44 and was buried in the US according to Islamic injunctions.
Outside music, the iconic rapper was known to be a familiar face in several basketball courts where he also made a great impact.
Many have described Sound Sultan as a huge basketball enthusiast.
He played in school and in 2015 acquired a stake in the Lagos Islanders, a Lagos-based basketball club founded in 1984.
“We dedicate the victories against US & Argentina to late Olanrewaju Fasasi (@Soundsultan). You saw this day coming when Nigeria would become a dominant force in global basketball. Ironically, the day we won against @usabasketball, was when you gave up the ghost. RIP,” they tweeted.
