NBA Finals 2020: LeBron James helps Lakers to 17th NBA championship

Lebron James led the charge as Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Miami Heat in the sixth game of the NBA Finals to lift their 17th NBA championship title.

The six-game series went down to the wire as Lakers won Game 6 by 106-93  against the Heat on Sunday night.

James had 28 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists,  helping the Lakers clinch the NBA Championship for the first time since Kobe Bryant’s fifth and final title a decade ago.

Anthony Davis had 19 points and 15 rebounds for the Lakers, who dealt with the enormous anguish that followed the death of the iconic Bryant in January and all the challenges that came with leaving home for three months to play at Walt Disney World in a bubble designed to keep inhabitants safe from the coronavirus.

The Lakers placed themselves in pole position by taking a 2-0 lead in the series, winning Games 1 and 2 by 116-98 and 124-114 respectively.

The Heats fought back to stay in contention in Game 3 by beating the Lakers 115-104 thanks to Jimmy Butler’s 40 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds.

Game 4 went to the Lakers who won by 102-96 as Davis and James bagged 22 points, 4 assists, nine rebounds and 28 points, eight assists and 12 rebounds respectively to regain the Lakers’ two-game lead.

The Heat made sure it wasn’t a stroll in the park for the soon-to-be champs by stealing Game 5 to take the series to Game 6.

Butler’s 35 points, 11 assists and 12 rebounds helped the Heat secure a 108-111 win over the Lakers despite James’ 40 points, seven assists and 13 rebounds.

James brought the heat again in Game 6 to squash any chance of a seventh game with 28 points.

Bam Adebayo had 25 points and 10 rebounds for Miami, who got 12 points from Jimmy Butler the player who, in his first Heat season, got the team back to title contention. Rajon Rondo scored 19 points for the Lakers.
