The Nigerian Navy has warned Nigerians to ignore a recruitment notice circulating on social media that claims applications have opened for its 2026 Batch 39 exercise.
According to Vanguard, the Navy said it did not issue the notice and urged applicants to avoid treating it as an official recruitment announcement.
Director of Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, gave the warning in a statement on Monday.
He said the Navy only releases recruitment information through its approved communication channels.
Navy warns applicants against unofficial platforms
Folorunsho advised applicants to avoid recruitment information from unofficial social media accounts, websites and other unverified sources.
He explained that the Navy would publish details about requirements, application procedures, timelines and available categories through its official platforms.
In addition, the Navy identified joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng as its official recruitment portal. Its main website remains navy.mil.ng.
The service therefore urged applicants to verify every recruitment announcement before taking any action.
Navy warns against recruitment payments
The Navy also warned applicants against paying individuals, agents or unofficial platforms for recruitment slots.
“The exercise is free of charge,” the Navy said.
It added that no third party has permission to recruit applicants or collect money on its behalf.
Furthermore, the Navy said it would continue to publish timely and accurate recruitment information through its official channels.
The service urged members of the public to remain alert and avoid falling victim to fake recruitment notices or payment scams.
