Nasarawa gov: Appeal Court to deliver judgment today

Published

Heavy security measures have been implemented around the Court of Appeal in Abuja ahead of a crucial judgment in the Nasarawa State Governorship election legal battle.

The decision could potentially overturn the current governor’s tenure and determine the future leadership of the state.

According to Daily Post, all roads leading to the court have been cordoned off by heavily armed security personnel from various agencies, including the Nigeria Police, Department of State Services, and Civil Defense Corps. This heightened security presence is aimed at preventing any potential disruptions or violence following the judgment.

Only a limited number of journalists and authorized personnel are being allowed into the courtroom due to space constraints and crowd control measures.

Political party officials and supporters are also facing restrictions, with only a few being granted access to the court premises.

The legal battle pits the incumbent governor, Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress, against his opponent, David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The Nasarawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal had previously annulled Sule’s election due to irregularities, declaring Ombugadu as the rightful winner.
