The National Association of Nigerian Students, Joint Campus Council, Niger State Axis, has announced they will not participate in the planned protest from August 1st to 10th.
At a press briefing in Minna, Niger State, on Friday, Chairman of NANS Niger Axis, Salihu Yusuf, said, “We categorically and unequivocally distance ourselves and the entire student community in Niger State from the planned protest.” He explained that they prefer resolving issues through dialogue rather than demonstrations.
Yusuf also praised Governor Mohammed Bago for his work in Niger State. “Governor Bago has made significant progress in infrastructure, security, agriculture, health, and education. His scholarship schemes for students are noteworthy,” Yusuf said.
He raised concerns about potential violence, stating, “We are worried that hoodlums might use the protest as an opportunity to loot and destroy property. We urge everyone to be cautious and prevent such outcomes.”
