Published

A United Kingdom-based rising Nigerian rap artist, “Mz Jazzie’’ on Monday attributed the title, “Afro-Rap Queen’’ to herself; saying the position had since been vacant and needed an occupant.

The law-graduate turned rapper said on telephone that it became necessary to adopt the title because most of her contemporaries were not as vibrant as her in their gigs.

She said that the world should know that a new female Afro-rap queen had emerged from Nigeria to signpost a new frontier for up-and-coming female rap artists.

“The position was vacant so I took it. It is not my fault that all the female emcees are sleeping on the microphone. I want them to wake up and recognise me as the new Queen of Afro-rap.

“I am currently working on so many tracks that will also announce me to the Nigerian folks. The lyrics are great and will be acceptable.

“I am always working to bring new and good sounds to the Nigerian people,’’ she said.

Mz Jazzie, born Jasmine Remi-Olori in the U.K., has done so many artistic works that attracted rave reviews from radio stations in the U.K and; lately from the University of Lagos FM Station.
