Nigerian skit maker Adesokan Adedeji Emmanuel, popularly known as Shank Comics, has made a humorous revelation about his father’s religious conversion, attributing it to hunger and a timely act of generosity.
Shank shared the story during a lighthearted exchange with another participant at the Streamer University bootcamp hosted by U.S. streamer Kai Cenat at Akron University.
The three-day event brought together budding content creators for networking, mentorship, and various activities, including giveaways.
In a now-viral clip from the event, Shank was asked about his religion during a casual conversation with a fellow streamer, believed to be Canadian. Responding, he said: “I am a Christian,” before going on to explain the origins of his Muslim name and his father’s past.
“I am a Christian. I have a Muslim name though. My Muslim name is Saheed. My daddy was a Muslim,” he said.
“Then there was one time he was f**king hungry, then one church gave him food and he became a Christian. My daddy is so cheap. He was just hungry.”
The anecdote drew laughter and further showcased Shank’s signature comedic style, blending personal stories with humor.
Aside from the light banter, the skit maker also emerged as one of the standout participants at the bootcamp, walking away with a $10,000 prize. Shank, who holds a degree from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), began his career as a stand-up comedian before transitioning into skit-making, where he has gained widespread popularity for his relatable and comedic content.
