MURDER OF SOLDIER DRESSED IN PLAINCLOTHES! Troops storm police station in Port Harcourt, arrest DPO
There was pandemonium on Thursday along Ada George Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, when soldiers stormed Rumukpakani Police station and arrested the Divisional Police Officer.
The soldiers’ action was in response to the killing of their colleague by a policeman serving in the station.
Reports said a soldier, who was dressed in plainclothes was shot dead earlier this morning near the police station by one of the police officers on duty.
Meanwhile, police and military authorities in the state are still struggling to calm frayed nerves to avert bloody conflict between police and military.
The state Commissioner of Police, Zaki Ahmed, who confirmed the incident said,
“It is very unfortunate, but it is not true that soldiers are chasing police.”
It was gathered that the incident left Obia Akpor locality and the station deserted.
