Xhaka who has been a pivotal part of Mikel Arteta’s side has just two more years on his contract as the North London club strives to raise funds by selling players this summer.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Roma are already working on the deal and that Arsenal want £21.5million for the Switzerland international having already entered talks.

Meanwhile, Football London reported that the Swiss international has been on Mourinho’s radar for a while, following failed attempts to sign him two years ago.

“Granit Xhaka is the main man in the entire Arsenal midfield, you can’t see it unless I lend you one of my eyes. Without him, Arsenal is lost. He is a leader. Remember, mistakes are made by humans,” Mourinho said at that time.
