Governor Mimiko receives Governor-elect Rotimi Akeredolu in his office (photos and video)
Ahead of February 24, 2017 transper of political power in Ondo State, incumbent Governor Olusegun Mimiko, today, December 14, 2016, receives Governor-elect Rotimi Akeredolu and his entourage in his office in Akure.
The official meeting of the duo would be the first time after the November 26 governorship election which was won by Akeredolu, after defeating the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede and 26 candidates of other political parties.
Speaking, Governor Mimiko declared that the transition programme from the outgoing government to usher in a new government in February next year would be smooth and seamless.
He noted that in the history of the state, it would was the first time to have a seamless transition from a civilian to another civilian government. He also pledged his support to ensure that Akeredolu succeeds in the task of governing the state.
Earlier in his speech, the governor-elect commended Mimiko for service he had rendered to the state and the nation at large, saying the governor had displayed exemplary leadership quality in various capacities he had served.
Akeredolu was in the governor’s office in company of some chieftains of the party, who included, the state’s deputy chairman of the APC, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, a former member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Sunday Abegunde, a former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr. Victor Olabimtan, the Chief Press Secretary to Late Dr. Olusegun Agagu, Mr. Yemi Olowolabi among others.
