Michael Jackson’s accusers fight to obtain to obtain his genital pictures

Published

Two of Michael Jackson’s accusers, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, are pushing back against efforts by the late pop star’s production company to prevent them from accessing police records containing potentially sensitive photos, including images of Jackson’s genitalia.

Robson and Safechuck, who allege they were sexually abused by Jackson during their childhood, have filed lawsuits against Jackson’s companies. They sought records and photos from investigations into Jackson, believing these documents could support their claims.

“The Los Angeles Police Department and Santa Barbara Police Department gave Michael Jackson and their legal team… all of the incriminating evidence showing that Michael Jackson was sexually abusing children,” said John Carpenter, the attorney representing Robson and Safechuck.

The legal team for Jackson’s companies argues that these documents contain private and sensitive information, including photos of Jackson’s naked body, and should not be accessible to the accusers. They emphasized the privacy rights of deceased individuals under California law.

“Plaintiffs’ demand for certain documents… represents an egregious violation of these privacy rights,” stated the legal filing from Jackson’s estate.

In response, Jackson’s attorneys denounced the accusers’ actions as an attempt to sway public opinion rather than seek justice through legal channels. They maintained Jackson’s innocence, citing his acquittal in a 2005 criminal trial.

Robson and Safechuck initially filed lawsuits in 2013, but their cases were dismissed due to the statute of limitations. However, a change in California law allowed them to revive their lawsuits, leading to the current legal battle against Jackson’s companies.

Despite the estate’s efforts to block access to the records, Robson and Safechuck are determined to proceed with their cases against Jackson’s companies. They allege that Jackson’s staff knew about the abuse and turned a blind eye to it.
