Police arrest 11 robbery suspects, recover military beret, firearms in Edo
The Police Command in Edo says it has arrested 11 suspects allegedly involved in various offences such as murder, armed robbery and banditry in the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Kontongs Bello, disclosed this on Friday in Benin while speaking on the achievements of the command between April 1 and April 5.
Bello explained that whereas three suspects were arrested for alleged armed robbery, three suspects were arrested for alleged murder, two arrested for alleged banditry and three others for conspiracy/robbery/murder.
He added that exhibits recovered within the period include three cut to size gun, one vehicle, one expended cartridge and one unused cartridge.
Other exhibits he said included one AK-49, four empty magazines, assorted charms, three AK-49 expended cartridge, one military and one red beret.
“We also recovered three mobile phones, Access Bank ATM card, vehicle number plate, three international passport, as well as a Lexus Jeep”, Kontongs said.
The PPRO said that the command under the leadership of the new CP, Abutu Yaro, was poised and re-committed to the fight against all forms of crimes and criminalities in the State.
He said that the CP in his renewed effort to tackle crime and criminalities in the state has given assurance to residents of the State that henceforth their lives and property would be protected.
He said that the CP stressed that he was in the state to work and criminals were therefore advised to leave the state or shun their criminal activities.
