Ondo man foils robber’s attempt to rape wife
A man in Ondo State has fought a robber and prevented the intruder from raping his wife at gunpoint.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, the robber, Tosin Omoniyi, was arrested while attempting to rape a woman after robbing her family of valuables in their house at Idanre community in the Idanre Local Government Area of the state.
The PPRO said the suspect entered the apartment through the window around 1am and dispossessed a couple of their money and other valuables.
“It was in the process of trying to rape the wife of the man that he (husband) summoned courage and descended on the accused, apprehended the robber with the help of neighbours, and dispossessed him of his gun,” she added
Odunlami also stated that the suspect’s 55-year-old mother, Tale Akinlabi, was arrested for allegedly helping him to keep stolen items.
The police spokesperson said the suspects would soon be charged in court.
When interrogated, Omoniyi, who claimed to be a commercial motorcyclist, said he operated alone and had successfully robbed many people in the town.
