At least three police officers were killed in Ebonyi state as gunmen opened fire on them in Ebonyi State.
This comes about two days after four policemen were killed at a checkpoint in the outskirts of the city.
Channels TV reported on Tuesday that the three policemen who were killed on Monday were said to have been attacked at a roadblock in front of a station along the Enugu-Abakaliki Expressway.
Reports revealed that the assailants stormed the checkpoint located at Obeagu in Enugu South Local Government Area, driving a Sienna and a Lexus Jeep.
Confirming the incident, a police source who pleaded anonymity said, “The remains of the three police (officers) have been deposited at a mortuary in Abakaliki after they were confirmed dead by doctors,”
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ebonyi, DSP Loveth Odah, on Tuesday, also confirmed that incident but could give a specific number of casualties.
