At least eight suspected cultists have been killed in the Sagamu Area of Ogun State as the Eiye and Aiye confraternities battle for supremacy.
The PUNCH reported that the cult groups had embarked on a killing spree in different parts of Abeokuta, the state capital, taking the death toll to 15 in less than two weeks in Abeokuta and Sagamu.
According to the publication, the fresh killings occurred on Sunday, a few days after seven persons were killed in the clash said to have escalated over the gruesome murder of a tout popularly known as Tommy in Oluwo, Abeokuta.
Regardless of the arrest of 18 suspects by the state police command, reports revealed that the crisis escalated to Sagamu, Remo axis of Ogun State.
The police were reportedly left to clean up the mess made by the hoodlums, including the evacuation of the bodies of the victims by the cops and parents.
According to the source, an electrician, identified only as Akeem, was killed in the Ajegunle area of Sagamu.
“Akeem did not die immediately; but when they were rushing him to a hospital, another motorcycle hit them and he fell. That was how he died eventually. His intestines were coming out because he was shot in the stomach,” he added.
However, as of press time, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, is yet to provide information on the incident as promised.
