A Muslim cleric has offered to provide an herbal remedy to Nollywood veteran Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, claiming that the preparation could help treat the actor’s stage 4 cancer.
The cleric made the offer in a video shared on Instagram on August 18. Dressed in Islamic attire, he was seen holding a five-litre white container filled with what he described as a herbal mixture.
Explaining how the remedy came about, the cleric said obtaining the required ingredients had been difficult, but he already had some of them available and decided to prepare the treatment for the actor.
He also claimed that the federal government had approved his traditional medical practice, saying he treats conditions including cancer and hepatitis. His immediate challenge, he noted, was establishing contact with Ogogo or his family so the preparation could be delivered.
“I have prepared a herbal medicine for cancer treatment for Actor Ogogo. The ingredients are scarce to get but God loves you, I had some at hand. The problem now is how it will get to him. I usually charge N320,000 for this but I will give Ogogo free of charge. I want him to know that traditional medicine is real. We treat cancer, hepatitis and other ailment, and the federal government has approved us. Please help us call him or his family to reach out to us, so we can deliver it to him or they can come and pick it up.”
The cleric’s offer came a day after Ogogo’s daughter, Kira, made an emotional appeal on August 17 concerning her father’s health. She disclosed that chemotherapy was no longer being considered as a treatment option for the veteran actor.
The family, however, clarified that it was not asking the public for financial assistance. Instead, they appealed for credible recommendations of alternative medical specialists, hospitals or traditional treatment centres that might be able to provide further care for the actor.
Ogogo is regarded as one of the prominent figures in Nollywood, particularly within the Yoruba-language film industry, where he has built a career spanning several decades.
