Bandits killed eight farmers in Kaduna, police confirm
Some bandits have reportedly invaded Buruku and Udawa villages in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing eight farmers.
The spokesman of the state command, ASP Mohammed Jalige, who confirmed the killings did not give details of the attack or give specific numbers of the casualties.
Jalige, however, said that the incident took place on Friday.
According to the spokesman, there was an attack on the two communities, adding that “we are yet to get details of the attacks.”
“There were attacks on farmers in Buruku and Udawa communities. But the number of casualties has not been ascertained. As soon as we get the details, we will make it public,” he said.
But a source who craved anonymity told one of our correspondents on Saturday night that the bandits in large numbers invaded the two communities, shooting indiscriminately at anything at sight.
“The bandits actually attacked the farmers while on their farms. The farmers were killed in separate attacks,” he said.
While saying that five of the farmers were killed at Buruku area along the dreaded Birinin Gwari – Kaduna Highway, three of the farmers were killed by the bandits at Udawa village.
The source called on the government to come their rescue as they were being overwhelmed by bandits attacks on a daily basis.
“We can no longer go to farm as the bandits attack at will,” he added.
