Manchester United bid Chris Smalling goodbye as he signs with Roma

Manchester United has announced the exit of defender Chris Smalling who has signed a permanent deal with Italian Serie A side Roma.

Smalling who has been on loan at Roma made his deal permanent on the transfer deadline day.

The move was confirmed by Manchester United which congratulated the player for his ten year service at Old Trafford.

“After 10 years of service at Old Trafford, @ChrisSmalling has left #MUFC to join Roma on a permanent deal. Thank you and good luck in Italy, Chris,” the club tweeted.

Smalling responded by wishing the club the best as he exits.

“An incredible club, that I am proud to have been a part of. 10 years ago I could have only dreamt of everything we have achieved. I wish you all my very best, whilst I am saddened to leave I know you will continue to achieve great things!,” he wrote.
