A middle-aged man was rescued on Friday after entering the water from the British American Bridge in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State. This Jos bridge rescue drew significant attention from locals.
An eyewitness, Mr Amos Forte, told Vanguard that the incident happened at about 1pm and quickly attracted the attention of people around the bridge. As a result, people raised the alarm and mobilised to help in what became a Jos bridge rescue effort.
Passers-by rush to rescue man
Forte said several people responded after noticing what had happened. They worked together to bring the man out of the water as part of the Jos bridge rescue response.
“Several persons raised the alarm and he was eventually rescued,” he said.
The man appeared to have sustained injuries during the incident. Therefore, he was taken to a hospital for medical attention shortly after the rescue.
Security operatives later arrived at the scene as residents and passers-by gathered around the area.
Circumstances remain unclear
Details surrounding the incident were still unclear as of the time of the report. In addition, no official explanation had been given for the man’s actions.
Authorities had also not released information about his identity or condition after he was taken to the hospital.
