A trader at the Utako market in Abuja nearly lost her life on Wednesday after her husband viciously punched her into coma for refusing to give him money as she usually does.
According to eyewitnesses in the market, the yet-to-be-identified man had turned his wife to an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) of a sort as he constantly collects money from her, but he met a resistance today when he visited her in the market to demand for money and the woman refused to give him.
It was gathered that the woman’s refusal to give his husband money degenerated into a heated argument.
Eyewitnesses say the man went physical against his wife and started punching her till she passed out.
A trader at the market said the man would have killed his wife but for the intervention of passersby.
The man was later made to rush his wife to the hospital in the company of a police officer.

Footage of the man carrying his wife on the back heading for the hospital was shared on social media.
In the footage, the man was seen being insulted by a large crowd of passersby who had gathered at the scene.
