Man laments 'misogynistic' practices in Africa after mom got ₦5k from ₦300k daughter's bride price

A Nigerian man has taken to Twitter to lament the ‘misogynistic’ practices that exist in African traditions and cultures.

According to the Twitter user identified as @chuka_emordi, his mother was treated unfairly in the sharing of the bride price of his sister, her own daughter.

WuzupNigeria reports that bride price is money, property, or other forms of wealth paid by a groom or his family to the woman or the family of the woman he will be married to or is just about to marry.

“Elders wey I never see for my life dey call my sister their pikin
