Man arrested for vandalizing newly refurbished third mainland bridge

The Lagos State Police Command has detained a 46-year-old man accused of vandalizing the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, just 34 days after its reopening following extensive rehabilitation.

According to reports, officers from the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps captured the suspect, identified as Friday Nwafor, while he was tampering with the newly installed road light indicators on the bridge.

The Special Adviser to the Lagos state governor on New Media, Gawat Jubril, revealed this development to journalists, stating that Nwafor was swiftly apprehended and handed over to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos Command, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade.

The road light indicators, which aid visibility on the bridge at night, were recently installed as part of the renovation efforts on the Third Mainland Bridge.

Confirming the arrest, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, commended the prompt action taken by the officials of LNSC in apprehending the suspect and turning him over to the authorities.

Hundeyin praised the efforts of the LNSC and assured that investigations into the incident were underway.
