Man arraigned for stealing motor parts and cash
Hammed Jamiu, a 38-year-old man, on Friday, was brought before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing motor parts and cash.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, is facing a one-count charge for stealing.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Agboh Boniface, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Oct. 14, 2019, at Rounder area of Abeokuta.
Boniface said that the defendant entered into Brain Work Resource and Concern Limited and stole one rim wheel of a long vehicle, with registration number MUS 712 XS, valued at N250,000.
He said that the defendant also stole two long vehicle batteries, valued at N100,000, one air-cover, worth M20,000 and N420,000 cash, all valued at N565,000
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
Newsmen report that, Jamiu, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mr Olanrewaju Onagoruwa, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000, with one responsible surety in like sum.
Onagoruwa ordered that the surety must be gainfully employed and also show evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government.
He, thereafter, adjourned the case till Jan. 20 for trial.
