A 44-year-old Kenyan man from Lusaka has reportedly beaten his wife to death on Christmas day.
According to local reports, Steven Yamba started beating his wife, Kangwa Mwango, 33, from around 7pm on Friday December 24 until the early hours of Saturday when he noticed that she had become lifeless.
Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga who confirmed the incident said the beating was over a minor dispute.
He took his own life after the wife was confirmed dead at the the University Teaching Hospital, Hamoonga added.
He said, “On December 25, 2021, at 09:00 hours. Yamba took his wife to Chawama hospital where he was advised to take her direct to University Teaching Hospital and she died on the way to the hospital.
“After Yamba realized that he had caused the wife’s death he quickly sneaked to Kabwata market where he bought a bottle of Doom pesticide and committed suicide by drinking the same.”
Mr Hamoonga said the two bodies are in the UTH mortuary awaiting Autopsy and burial.
