Man, 42, faces N4m cable theft charge

A 42-year-old iron bender, Lekan Adegbola, who allegedly stole cable worth N4 million, on Monday appeared before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court sitting on Lagos Island.

Adegbola, whose address was not provided, is facing trial on a three-count of conspiracy, stealing, and receiving stolen property.

The prosecutor, Insp Ajaga Agboko, told the court that the defendant and others still at large conspired and committed the offences.

Agboko said that Adegbola stole the cable from Eko Atlantic company.

According to him, the alleged offences contravene Sections 287 (7), 328 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs T. A. Idowu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of one million Naira with two sureties in like sum.

Idowu ordered that the sureties must show evidence of livelihood and tax payment to Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case until Jan. 27 for mention.
