Man, 28, arrested for allegedly defiling 15-year-old girl
A 28-year-old man who allegedly lured a 15-year-old girl and engaged her in a sex romp has been arrested in Lagos.
The suspect identified as Ezechi Onyendi was arrested and charged before a Court for defilement, which attracts life imprisonment, P.M Express reports.
The incident happened at London Avenue, Iju Ishaga area of Lagos, where they reside.
The suspect reportedly lured the victim into his apartment, confused her and then engaged her in sex romp before the matter got exposed.
He was handed over to the Police in the area who transferred him to the Gender Section of the Command for further investigation.
At the Gender Section, he reportedly admitted that he had normal sex with her and he penetrated her easily without any complaints from the victim.
However, the Police found him culpable because the girl was still a minor and any adult who slept with a minor committed statutory rape by law.
He was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Supol Bisi Ogunleye, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje, ordered his remand in Correctional Centre and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
The defendant was remanded in prison custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice to determined if he will be transferred to the High Court for prosecution.
