Nigerian singer Lekan Osifeso Junior, known professionally as Lojay, clinched the โBest Vocal Performance (Male)โ award for his song “Billions” at the 17th Headies Awards, which took place on Sunday night at the Eko Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The award, part of a non-voting category, honours the male artist with the most exceptional vocal performance on a single track or album from the previous year.
Lojay emerged victorious in a highly competitive field, defeating notable nominees such as Omah Layโs โMoving,โ Johnny Drilleโs โFor You,โ Timi Dakoloโs โKe Na Ke So,โ and Anendlessoceanโs โGratitude.โ
During his acceptance speech, Lojay expressed heartfelt gratitude and underscored the importance of improving the industryโs structure.
โThank God Headies is back to base. I think this is something that we need to focus on as artists, just to bring back as much structure as possible to our industry, and this is like the first step in the right direction,โ he stated.
The Headies Awards, renowned for celebrating outstanding achievements in Nigerian music, returned to its home country this year after holding the previous two editions in Atlanta, Georgia.
The 2025 ceremony featured 31 categories, including โArtiste of the Year,โ โSong of the Year,โ and โNext Rated,โ showcasing the remarkable talent within the Nigerian music scene.
