LG Polls: LASIEC okays e-transmission of election results in Lagos
The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission has hinted at the possibility of electronic transmission of the results of the July 24 local government election in the state.
WuzupNigeria reported that there have been calls for the inclusion of e-transmission of election results, a debate that has divided lawmakers as it awaits approval at the National Assembly via the Electoral Amendment Bill.
However speaking on Friday during a press conference ahead of the local government elections, the Chairman of LASEIC, Ayotunde Philips, said the commission has a “robust and user-friendly” website that might be used to upload election results.
Tribune quoted Philips as saying that the commission is facing technical challenges with the website as of Friday afternoon.
Philips however expressed optimism that the issue would be resolved and e-transmission of election results would be done.
“As to uploading of results, we are going to upload it to a cloud as the same thing as INEC does.
“Our website should really reflect the result. We are having a bit of a problem now with uploading but hopefully, it is going to be reflecting on our website,” Philips said.
