Lekki Shootings: We counted about 15 dead bodies, DJ Switch breaks silence[VIDEO]
Popular Disk Jockey, DJ Switch, has spoken revealed that they counted about 15 dead bodies on Tuesday night when soldiers opened fire at the Lekki Toll Gate, Lagos.
Switch, whose real name is Obianuju Catherine Udeh, a witness at the shooting who went as far as recording the incident on InstagrammLive via her official account.
Although the visual was dark as a result of power outage which happened minutes before the soldiers came sounds of gunshots were heard as well as voices of protesters.
A clearer video uploaded later by one of the witnesses showed men in military uniform shooting.
According to Switch, they counted seven bodies before her phone ran out of power, signalling the end of the live video.
She added that after her phone ran out of power, they had counted about 15 bodies at the Lekki toll gate on Tuesday night.
Switch also alleged that officers of the defunct Special ANti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit also showed up at the scene after the departure of the soldiers.
She, however, debunked rumours that they counted over 70 bodies at the shooting on Tuesday night.
Nigeria was thrown into shock on Tuesday night when soldiers fired live rounds at the unarmed protesters before the start of the 9pm curfew initiated by the state government.
The move has since spiralled into days of unrest across the state with multiple police stations burnt down by hoodlums who have also reportedly killed a number of policemen.
The State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, although, confirmed the presence of the military at the Lekki Toll Gate, denied that any protester died as a result of the shootings by the soldiers.
He also denied sanctioning the hit on protesters, claiming that it was the doing of forces beyond his control.
So far, there has been no sight of any of the reported dead bodies but Switch claimed that the soldiers took the bodies away in their trucks.
The Nigeria Army has however denied the shootings, claiming that it was photoshopped.
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) after days of silence following the shootings, refuse to address the issue or any related chaos ongoing in Lagos Ogun, Oyo, Edo and other states.
He was however quick to warm neighbouring countries and the international community against making “hasty” pronouncements on issues relating to #EndSARS protests in the country.
Buhari said, “To our neighbours in particular, and members of the international community, many of whom have expressed concern about the ongoing development in Nigeria, we thank you and urge you all to seek to know all the facts available before taking a position or rushing to judgment and making hasty pronouncements.”
