The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency rescued four victims of a serious accident involving two buses on Monday evening.
The accident occurred on the Third Mainland Bridge, heading toward Oworo. The Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday.
He said, “The agency received distress calls through the 767 and 112 emergency lines at 5:25 p.m. Our emergency response team arrived at the scene by 5:35 p.m.”
According to Oke-Osanyintolu, the accident involved a white Toyota Coaster bus with registration number KJA-380-XV, which collided with a parked Lagos State BRT bus, registration number AGL-938-YD.
“The Coaster bus, while attempting to overtake a car, crashed into the parked BRT. Four people, including the driver, sustained serious injuries. Thankfully, no fatalities were recorded,” he said.
He explained that LASEMA’s team extricated the trapped victims and provided pre-hospital care before taking them to nearby government hospitals for treatment.
“The Coaster bus was towed to Iyana-Oworo and handed over to the police after the recovery operation,” Oke-Osanyintolu added.
The operation was successfully completed, with LASEMA urging motorists to exercise caution while driving to prevent similar incidents.
