Lagos court grants bail to woman who threatened to kill pregnant neighbour

A 39-year-old woman, Amaka Simeon, who allegedly pushed her eight-month-old pregnant neighbour on the floor, on Thursday appeared before a Surulere Chief Magistrates Court in Lagos State.
Simeon, of No. 31 Igbeyadu St., Orile Surulere, Lagos State, pleaded not guilty to two charges of assault and threat to life.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that Simeon committed the offence on March 21, at No. 31 Igbeyadu St., Orile Surulere, Lagos State.
Ekhueorohan alleged that after Simeon had pushed her eight-month-old pregnant neighbour on the floor, she still threatened to kill her.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Sections171 (2) and 232 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs. Sadiq Bello, admitted Simeon to bail in the sum of N50,000 with a reliable surety in like sum.
She ordered that the surety must be gainfully employed and show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned until April 21 for further hearing.
