Kogi monarch kidnapped inside mosque
The acting Eje of Ankpa in Ankpa local government area of Kogi state, Shuaibu Usman, has been abducted by unknown gunmen.
The Kogi State commissioner of police, Ayuba Ede said the monarch was kidnapped while entering a mosque to observe prayers around 5:30 am on Friday, December 18.
Ede who revealed that the police have cordoned off all entry and exit points in the State in a bid to rescue the traditional ruler, said the kidnappers are yet to make any contact with Usman’s family.
Kingsley Fanwo, the state commissioner for information told newsmen that they have intensified efforts to ensure that the traditional ruler is rescued safely.
Fanwo said;
“The state government is working with security agencies to ensure his release.
“The Kogi state government has also put machinery in motion to ensure even more stringent security network during this yuletide.
“The people of Ankpa should remain calm as government is on top of the situation. We remain committed to security of lives and property.”
