Klopp shocked by clubs’ lack of interest in Divock Origi this summer

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has expressed shock over the lack of interest in Belgian striker, Divock Origi, during the recently closed summer transfer window.

Origi was expected to leave the club in the transfer window but surprisingly Liverpool got no interest for the 26-year-old.

The Belgian was handed his first Liverpool start in the epic 3-2 Champions League win over AC Milan having last started in the game West Ham on January 31.

He was instrumental to Liverpool’s equaliser and Mohammed Salah’s first goal of the night as The Reds came from 2-1 down to claim all three points in the five-goal thriller.

After the game, Klopp told BT Sport: “[Divock] played a beautiful game. People forget how good he is, it’s difficult to get into this team.

“In the summer transfer window we all thought there would be a proper offer for him, but obviously people don’t watch football enough.

“He’s a sensational striker and he did really well today.”

Klopp added in his post-match press conference: “He’s a great guy. He’ll be seen as a legend when he leaves. He could have left in the summer but football is a crazy place and people forgot how good he is. We have to decide the positions. He did nothing wrong.

“It’s difficult to get in this team sometimes, but I am really happy for him tonight.”
