King Charles III has received Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Aminu Muhammad Dalhatu, and his wife at St James’s Palace for the presentation of his Letters of Credence.
The formal ceremony, which took place on May 6, 2026, officially accredits Dalhatu as Nigeria’s top diplomat in the UK, signalling strengthened bilateral ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
During the event, the High Commissioner conveyed greetings from President Bola Tinubu and the continued goodwill of the government and people of Nigeria to the government and people of the United Kingdom.
Dalhatu reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening the longstanding relations and cooperation between the two countries across areas of mutual interest. He expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded to him and his spouse, and looked forward to engaging closely with the UK government and relevant stakeholders in advancing shared priorities.
The High Commissioner was accompanied by his spouse, Mrs Yasmine Amin Dalhatu, and senior officers of the Mission.
The presentation follows President Tinubu’s prior engagements with the UK royals, building on momentum from his March 2026 state visit to foster trade, cultural, and political cooperation. The ceremony underscores ongoing Nigeria-UK relations amid shared Commonwealth history and economic interests.
