Ladies have more uncles than guys - Shehu Sani

The lawmaker representing Kaduna Central at the Senate, Senator Shehu Sani seems to have an antidote to the menace of kidnapping and armed robbery that has turned the Kaduna-Abuja highway to a dreaded route for travellers.

The Senator said increased security surveillance, better funding, and deployment of more security personnel to the highway is the way out.

The Kaduna-Abuja highway has become a notorious route for travellers in the past few years. Hardly will a week pass without report of kidnapping or armed robbery on the road.

Recently, the security detail of Kaduna state governor Nasir El-Rufai foiled the operations of the bandits while travelling on the highway.

On Monday, the Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC),  Mohammad Abubakar and his daughter were kidnapped by gunmen along the highway.

WuzupNaija also reports that kidnappers on Monday afternoon blocked the Kaduna-Abuja road, forcing several motorists to abandon their vehicles and head for nearby bushes to avoid being abducted.

The development left many motorists and passengers unaccounted for, just as their belongings were stolen by the kidnappers.

Reacting to reports of the activities of the bandits on Monday, Shehu Sani took to Twitter to advise the Nigeria Police Force on the right step to take to curb the menace.

He wrote,

“Truth is bitter and it hurts but it’s the truth that heals; Kaduna Abuja road needs more drones, patrol helicopters, operational vehicles, funding & more security personnel to fully combat the menace of kidnapping.”
