Kano shares N880m for schools’ renovation
Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje on Sunday shared N880 million to the 44 local government areas for the renovation of Secondary Schools in the councils.
Each council chairman received a cheque of N20 million at a ceremony held at Kofar Mata Indoor Sports Hall.
The chairmen are to work together with the ‘education promotion committee,’ comprising of elders and community leaders set up for the renovation purpose.
Ganduje gave the chairmen three weeks to finish the renovation exercise which kicks off today.
The governor said the renovation becomes necessary preparatory to the resumption of schools after the COVID-19 problem.
The renovation is also in line with the state’s educational policy of ‘Compulsory Free Education’ which requires that school facilities must be provided for learning.
Ganduje noted that the state had recorded successes in educational development because of his “political will, community participation and strong institutions put in place.”
