El Rufai shuts Kaduna schools for three weeks

Kaduna Ministry of Education has closed public and private schools for three weeks to allow the government to review its academic calendar.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Yusuf Saleh, on Thursday.

The statement noted that the resumption date for which was slated for July 25, 2021, is no longer feasible.

“This is to give the state time to review the current academic calendar to ensure that normal school activities are not affected.

“However, this 3 weeks closure does not affect those writing the 2021 NECO Senior School Certificate Exams.

Consequently, the state government advised parents that the revised calendar will be released as soon as possible, saying, they will be communicated accordingly.

This is just as it directed schools to comply with the above directives as failure to do so will attract appropriate sanctions.

The new circular says the state schools are expected to resume in August.
