Ace sports broadcaster, Chief Fabio Adesola Olanipekun, is dead.
He reportedly died in his Magodo Isheri residence in Lagos on Sunday afternoon.
Fabio’s death is coming four days after he celebrated his 80th birthday.
A source close to the family confirmed the demise of the revered lawyer and former president of the Nigerian Bar Association.
Born as Adesola Lanipekun, the lawyer-turned-sports journalist adopted the name ‘Fabio’ from a novel that he read as a student.
A native of Ikere-Ekiti, Fabio attended Amoye Grammar School in Ikere-Ekiti but obtained his West Africa School Certificate at Ilesa Grammar from where he proceeded to the University of Lagos for his bachelor’s degree in Law.
His death comes less than a week after the death of another celebrated sports journalist, Sunny Emmanuel Ojeagbase.
