JUST IN: POS operator hospitalised as explosion rocks Kaduna community

There was pandemonium in Danmani community of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State where residents scampered to safety panicked following an explosion on Friday night.

Eyewitnesses said the incident happened close to the shop of a Point of Sale operator near Abubakar Sadiq Mosque, according to residents.

An object believed to be an explosive was found close to the motorcycle ‎belonging to the affected POS operator, Daily Trust reports.

A local Vigilance member, who craved anonymity, said the explosion injured the victim who was later rushed to hospital.

‎”The man was rushed to hospital for treatment because his legs and finger nails were badly affected. The case has been reported to police,” he said.

Another resident, who simply identified himself as Shehu, said three persons sustained injuries in the incident.

Shehu disclosed that a team of anti-bomb squad subsequently arrived the scene and detonated another suspected explosive.

“Among the three injured persons, the POS operator is unconscious and receiving treatment at 44 Hospital, while the remaining two person sustained mild injuries,” he said.

As of the time of filing this report, both the Police and State government are yet to comment on the incident.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Jalige Mohammed, did not also answer his calls.
