Burna Boy record first African artiste BET Awards



Grammy award-winning singer, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu better known as Burna Boy, has won the 2021 Best International Act at the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards.

The 21st annual BET Award took place at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on June 27.

The ‘Twice as Tall’ singer beats fellow Nigerian, Wizkid and Tanzanian, Diamond Platinumz, to clinch the award.

With his new feat, the Grammy Award winner has become the first African Artiste to win three consecutive BET Awards.

Recall that he won the Best International Award (Global) in 2019, 2020 and, just yesterday, he was announced winner of the award category for 2021.

Burna Boy is arguably one of the biggest and most successful African artistes the country has ever produced.

He rose to prominence in 2012 after releasing “Like to Party”, the lead single from his debut studio album L.I.F.E.

The BET Awards is an American award show that was established in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television network to celebrate African Americans in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment over the past year.
