Buhari didn’t promise to make dollar equal to naira – Femi Adesina
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) on Sunday denied ever promising Nigerians that one naira would be equivalent to one dollar during his election campaign.
The claim was dispelled by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on behalf of the Buhari administration.
Making an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, the president’s aide declared that his principal never made such a promise.
Adesina said, “It does not exist, it is fake, it is false, it is apocryphal, it doesn’t.”
Speaking further, Adesina noted that that the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, had cleared the air about the claims on numerous occasions.
“The minister of information Alhaji Lai Mohammed has debunked that before. It doesn’t exist it was never said.”
Adesina proceeded by challenging for proof that the promise ever existed.
“If it’s said, there should be clips, publication,” the Presidential aide noted.
“It was a conjuration by some people. would it then become an albatross in the government’s neck?
“That was never said, it was never promised. I challenge you to make the clip available where that promise was said.”
