Published

Wales winger Gareth Bale has completed his return to former club Tottenham on loan from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

“We are delighted to announce the return of @GarethBale11 to the Club on a season-long loan from Real Madrid!” Tottenham announced on its Twitter handle on Saturday.

Bale, who signed for Spurs as a 17-year-old from Southampton in 2007, returned to north London after seven years away in Spain.

He made 203 appearances for Spurs in all competitions before departing in 2013, scoring 55 goals – including 26 in a memorable final campaign in 2012/13.

Spurs have confirmed he will wear the number 9 shirt on his return.

Confirming his return, Bale tweeted, “To all the Spurs fans, after 7 years, I’m back! #COYS @SpursOfficial.”

In a statement, Real Madrid wished the player luck.

“Real Madrid C. F. and Tottenham Hotspur FC have agreed to the loan of Gareth Bale for next season, until 30 June 2021.

“Our club wishes the best of luck to a player who is part of one of the most successful periods of our history,” it added.
